I have a challenge...
Mood:  smelly
Hello all as I was sitting here reading all of your recent comments posted on my blog I began to wonder who you all really were...I know this is a blog and it is a scion of anonymity but I was wondering who the people who read the blog were like what age, what social standing, species, ethnicity, and so on. Most importantly who everyone wanted to vote for in the upcoming election. So in typical rance-like fashion I bring a question to the masses.

What are all of your favorite movies and why? What makes you feel?

If you all do not like this wave of questions feel free to comment on them in the postings.
And no I did not get along with the divine miss M as it said in most of the magazines. She was civil but a total Rhoda!

Goodnite and Have fun,

Nic

I happened on your site because you posted on Rance's.

Whoever you are you sure do have some choice words like bitch, B'otch, 411, yap, etc. Sounds really ghetto. If you were someone rich and famous, I would hope you would invest a little more into an education and social etiquette and a spell checker.

Upthewall,

Ya know, maybe after all those years with Tom, playing the perfect, supportive, beautiful *proper* wife, she's finally breaking out. Notice the roles are getting riskier, meater, with TSW just a silly break from the edgier work.

And sometimes, it's easier to type what you could never say out loud.

I have never called anyone a bitch... to her face.

Chinquapin(by the way... Bagdad Cafe is on my list.)

P.S. 411 hasn't been ghetto since the 80's.

Music makes me feel, weed makes me feel. Unfortunately none of your movies make anyone feel anything but boredom.

Okay - maybe I'm totally daft... but what does it mean to be a "total Rhoda"? :-)

Well, I like all kinds of movies. But if I had to choose my favorites are romantic comedies and musicals. I love old musicals and new. Movies like Roman Holiday, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Urban Cowboy, Dirty Dancing, and many more. I guess you can tell from my favorites that I am a major John Travolta fan. As a matter of fact he is my favorite actor of all time. I like movies that make me feel good. I'm not fond of movies that are depressing. I understand that maybe there are stories to tell sometimes but when I am looking to be entertained I am not interested in crying which I usually do at sad, depressing movies. I like music in movies, not just music playing in the background but singing and dancing. I'm not really fond of all these recent movies that are remakes of old TV shows. They almost never do them justice. The remake of Starsky and Hutch was horrible. I must admit though (and I'm not just saying this because I am sucking up) when I heard that Nicole Kidman (or you, if that really is you) was going to play in Bewitched I thought that was perfect. I'm still not buying the Will Farrell as Darren thing. But I will reserve complete judgement until I see it, which I intend to do. Oh and by the way, I had company this weekend and wasn't on for several days so Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope it was a good one and may you continue to live a long and happy life!!

Well, if it sounds really ghetto, perhaps you should stay in the ghetto and not come into this blog. Because the only thing I've seen ghetto is your behavior here.

Female.
Age: 37 look 26 I get carded for cigarettes so some are surprised I'm over 18 oddly enough. Actually, I quit smoking for good within the last 6 months so....maybe I don't know the current info on that deal. I find it hard to believe, but it truly happens, so let me just bask in that illusion for now.

Social Standing: College Educated, Working Class with a goal to have own business proven to be in the works in two years *crossing fingers and praying* . New to business, proven goal will reach 6 figures in two years. This is a life changer...and great news for a woman working her butt off for years with little pay. Especially a single mom with no child support and no father involved for my little miracle. I live amidst the filthy rich, rich and poor and destitute. I believe that all people are God's Children. Some are Satan's *laughing*..but.. I choose not to judge a person from where they are or what sacrifices they have. I believe in good people vs. evil. I don't believe we will take any of these finances to heaven. But, I also believe money is mobility, which to me means fun...and there is enough to go around at different levels.

Species: I don't know, but I should have been a solid gold dancer...I missed my calling*Laughin*

Ethnicity: Well, this is unique. In the US, President Kennedy was royalty in our country. Rose Kennedy, his mom, had a brother whom married a Cherokee Indian. Yup, it's true. They both had a daughter (very well educated woman and back in her day, that was rare)whom with a Greek man and had my mom. I am a decendent of a melting pot. I have one of the most respected families in our small society. My parents bred highly successful children. Some not working in as bright a field as the others, but..hey...who really cares.

My other grandparents are interesting and whom I remember had the largest of hearts for my youth. My grandfather lived in Canada. He was blamed for involvement of heading the moonshine gang that got all the townsmen drunk at night during the prohibition time period. He was only 12, how they pinned it all on him is beyond me. However, my Grandfather was very upset that his family was upset with him over this. He ran away from home. He walked all the way to East Bridgewater, MA to live on his own. Yes, at 12 years old. Things are much different now adays, I'd say. He met my grandmother, whom ran away from home at the time. She never talked about why. I do know she was one of the sweetest and best ladies I've met in my life. My grandfather and my grandmother started a farm. I even labored in that far during the summers of my youth. My grandmother interestingly enough never got her license. She was the foundation of our family being together and close and it was from the fruits of her labor that we had the largest family gatherings at all holidays. Filled with more food than anyone can imagine all fresh from the farm. Card games and liquor became the adults pasttime. Kids played in the farm. This place kept us innocent, kept us hospitable and close.

VOTE: BUSH! The reason is simple. The BS that conspiracy theories are building are all do to intense party funding from the opposition. I think Bush is the only one that has the balls to keep war out of this country. Children are bred to hate Americans. In their history books it states, "American's are the enemy". Bush is the only one with credibility in my book. He believes in God and doing the right thing. I can dispell any of the conspiracy theories by providing what I know. I have researched it all thoroughly. War was coming to the US. He kept it out and funded that fight. So that we can raise our children without beheadings becoming a part of their acceptable living situation. If Kerry is elected, he is known to put zero toward defense. That means our country will be vulnerable to this hatred. We will be doomed.

I could go on and politics is probably the worst topic to bring up. I am assuming that you are liberal as most in your field seem to be.

I know this is off the wall, but I love the Asian culture. I believe they are more advanced than my culture. Which is considered white regardless of my ethnic past. I do possess Irish and English in my blood...I wish I was Italian sometimes as they seem to be welcoming family-types....But, I wish I had the knowledge of the highest sifu's in the Asian culture. It's amazing. It's the only thing I believe leads a horse to water to drink culture as far as the natural eagerness and motivation to learn.

In college, I know the major I am in. But, it makes no sense to take algebra in my field. But, in the Asian culture they lead you into wanting to learn with your own powerful motivations that make sense. Not just to impress, but what is needed. I love it. I hope to be able to raise my child to learn in this way. So far, so good.

I wish I was orthodox, but I'm afraid, I'm unorthodox. But, I strongly feel I'm the most loving, humble, normal, grounded person I know.

I want to succeed to provide for my son a life that is against all odds of him attaining.

P.S. I'm not a lesbian, however, somedays I wish I were as it would be easier....there are no more good men left in this world this day in age. *sorry guys*

P.P.S. Who's Miss M?

Whoa...well I think I've used up my posting quota...

Ok...
34, F, Stockbroker turned healer (for real), usually human, occaisionally way out there, causcasian, American by birth but lived all over the world.

Favorite movie - there isn't just ONE... I loved American Beauty - I thought it depicted the dysfunctional highs and lows of American middle class life... I'm not saying this to be obvious, but I really loved The Hours - the different stories were so delicately woven together. Shakespeare in Love for the use of language - so clever. For fun movies I loved Strictly Ballroom, Priscilla Queen of the Desert.. the campy sort of stuff. For the provocative films... Michael Moore (sorry, all of you Republicans) and I think Super Size Me should be mandatory watching for all children and adults... I could go on forever. There is so much great stuff out there mixed in with all of the crap.

The question about feeling I don't know that I can answer concisely or in a way that anyone would want to sit through reading so I will skip it.

So, Vance, right back at you? What are your answers?

I don't mean to be nosey, but I think this little group of ours is small enough, intimate enough...I just want to know one thing, Nic. What was the real reason you and Tom broke up? It seemed like you two had the most perfect marriage...what went wrong?

WOW, thanks Chinq....I know I'm a bad skimmer huh. I missed some key points here. Will it help my excuse any if I mention that I am a dipsy person by nature? We are all given our crosses to bear.

THE RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT, is not a movie, it's art.

I also should mention ROCKON is my nickname here merely because it puts a smile on my face. I was making fun of someone bein silly and I said, ROCK ON, dude...to be a sarcastic and later my lil one said, Rock On when he saw me do something to compliment me. So, thus the goofy rock on nickname.

Sorry, I thought that was the TO:
it was the Name section for me to put my name.
Thus proving two points.

#1. I'm a ditz.
#2. I get what why you said that now. Look how much webspace I took up. I guess people will think twice about asking me questions.

Vance,

You are on your way to 3 pages of comments! Congrats.

I plan on remaining somewhat anonymous, but if I was famous(help me here, is it was famous or were famous), there are enought clues in my posts here to reveal my secret identity.

I'm older than Nic, female, citizen of the USA, social standing...meaningless(more education, less cash), human with cat rising. I am a wonderful melange of ethnicity, and a registered Democrat, but as I've said, vote for the person not the party.

I like most of A. Hepburn's movies(check out *2 for the Road*), K. Hepburn, C. Grant... good old B&Ws. Good Film Noir is great, good Screwball too(it's the GOOD part that makes all the difference).
*Bagdad Cafe* invokes wonderful feelings for me. It is NOT a chick flick. Best known as Jack Palance's comeback film, it was a joyous experience for me. Of course seeing it on the big screen makes a big difference.

I really need to get going now, these blogs are a procrastinator's dream.

Chinq... Am I totally missing something here,or are you posting under Chinq, Chinquapin and RockOn! and actually carrying on conversations with yourself? Perhaps I am just confused... No prob if you are, just a little amusing.

Sid,

I always list my "Name" as chinq, and sign off as Chinquapin. RockOn! was a little confused and inserted "chinq" under Name:, thinking it was an addressee space, as in Dear____.

Hope that clears things up.

Check out small fry's blog "Bloggers Paradise", just getting started on Tripod(sorry, don't have the address handy, but s/he has posted it on Vance's blog).

Dear Upthewall:

Ooooh, this is SO not politically correct. The "sounds really ghetto" comment isn't very nice - shows prejudice. Do you walk up to people from different countries, who speak a language different from yours, and make derogatory remarks like, "sounds really Italian," or "sounds really Irish?"

And then YOU make that comment about "social etiquette." Hmmmmmmm.

Just commentING.

okay, answering this question sort of one month late...

Movies, from the ones you did, The Hours was great. Moulin Rouge was good too. You are getting better with time. Keep up the good work.
This year I liked Maria Full of Grace. Recently, Amores Perros, 21 grams, The Company, and you will hate me on that: Fahrenheit 9/11 ( I guess that answer my political part )
I'm brazilian, moved to us because the company moved me. I'm a female, 30 years old. Also card to get cig, and to get in clubs.

I have many favorite movies depending on my mood. when I want to laugh I pick Office Space or some old school movie with John Cusack (whom by the way I think you'd be very cute with, have you met him? if so what's he like) and the past few weeks I've been rewatching "Lost in Translation". It conveys so many emotions, and I must figure out what he whispers to her.
